[opensuse-gnome] G:C policy update
I'd like to suggest an addition to the G:C policy (less than 24 hours after announcing it as complete) :) I'd like to propose that people packaging in G:C be "required" (not sure how we impose it) to be members of this list. Thoughts? -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I think that most people doing ongoing packaging already are, and I agree that those that aren't should be. No idea how to enforce it either, though. On the other hand, if someone says "here's a cool gnome package, but I won't have time to work on it anymore, take it or leave it", I think we'll probably take it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

This eventuality is already covered by section 1, criterion 2: "People adding packages to the repository must be committed to the maintenance of that package. In the event that they are subsequently unable to do so, they should either enlist someone to look after their packages or remove them." Seems unlikely that any of us would let a good package die. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

we can "enforce it" by making this list the place for discussion for adding new packages. -- Rodrigo Moya <rodrigo@novell.com> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Makes sense, otherwise it's hard to contact the packager. Was that my cue to start working on the acronym's page? :-)
