[opensuse-gnome] Teatime applet?
One of the niceties in KDE I had really grown fond of over the years is a small applet called kteatime. Looking what GNOME offers in this space, I did not find anything in what we ship, alas I found http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php/Teatime . Did I simply miss something (an alternative, perhaps) in our packaging of GNOME for openSUSE? I also did look at the openSUSE Build Service and only found kteatime which makes me think I might have missed something already offered by vanilla GNOME. If not, is there any chance to get Teatime included somehow? I'd be happy to invite anyone packaging this for FACTORY for a tea (or some- thing else). ;-) Gerald -- Dr. Gerald Pfeifer <gp@novell.com> Director Product Management, SUSE Linux Enterprise, openSUSE, Appliances -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Sure, we'll add it to the list of things to package :-) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I wanted to do you a favour (and secure myself a tea) by packaging up teatime for you (* and of course any other openSUSE user). Unfortunately, the download link on gnomefiles points to: http://www.gnomefiles.org/download.php?soft_id=562&where=http%3A%2F%2Fdet.cable.nu%2Fpakete%2Fteatime-3.2.tar.bz2 => det.cable.nu, which is not reachable at the moment. Let's hope this get's 'resolved' soonish. I CC Detlef,. the author of the code. Up to then: sorry: your request has been put on hold :( Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

You can use the tarballs that Mandriva is using :-) http://svn.mandriva.com/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/packages/cooker/teatime/current/S... Gerald, Your tea is served! Packages for openSUSE Factory are currently available in: obs://home:dimstar:branches:GNOME:Apps The stack required for this applet is maybe putting people a bit off though. If you don't already have a full ruby stack on your system, you might be impressed what all is being dragged in. Feel free to give it some testing... I did not do much out of it yet. If it manages to drag in more than kteatime to the same GNOME install, you might be interested in a helper runtime for writing applets, it begins with a K ;). K.. K.. let me think.... I honestly have NO idea what you could be referring to.. KNOME? :) the problem is that the author decided to to this in ruyy, including all the ruby bindings available. How many K-Applets are written in Ruby? How much would they drag in ? I was preparing myself for the shock, alas http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dimstar:/branches:/GNOME:/Ap... only features 11.2 and Factory, and under both the actual x86_64 directories are empty? ugh.. sorry for that: as this is my devel branch for G:A it has generally publish disabled. The repo has since been published and packages for 11.3 are there as well. The packaging was not complete. I think Dominique has fixed it since then. Can you try again? To be sure you have the last version, check that the package ships with a bonobo .server file. I've been trying this twice over the last two weeks to make sure it's not me doing something stupid and by running "zypper rm teatime" followed by "zypper add teatime". What happens now when I try to add this to the panel is that a dialog pops up that informs me: "Teatime" has quit unexpectedly As for the version, this one does have /usr/lib64/bonobo/servers/GNOME_TeatimeApplet3_Factory.server which surprises me a bit since the repository is openSUSE 11.2 based, or so it appears: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dimstar:/branches:/GNOME:/Ap... On the other hand rpm -q --changelog only shows the following: * Wed Sep 01 2010 dimstar@opensuse.org - Initial package, version 3.3 Hmmm... I haven't tested it, but what happens if you run the program in a terminal first, before adding it to the panel? Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Starting the applet in cli does not do anything, besides sitting and waiting. When adding it to the panel, there is some output in .xsession-errors: (gnome-panel:3842): Bonobo-WARNING **: Cannot get value: Unknown CORBA exception id: 'IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0' Seems to be a fun applet to get some tea :) Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
