[opensuse-gnome] Notification of removal of GNOME:Apps 11.4 repos
Since 12.3 is just around the corner we feel it's now time to drop our 11.4 build targets from GNOME:Apps. This to save build power and HD space on our beloved OBS service. This means that if you are using any of these http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Apps/openSUSE_11.4/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Apps/openSUSE_11.4 +GNOME_STABLE_3.0/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Apps/openSUSE_11.4 +GNOME_STABLE_3.2/ be prepared for it to vanish in about a week. Please consider that 11.4 is currently the basis of the Evergreen project. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. The goal of evergreen is 'long term security and stability maintenance', not version upgrades... as such, the usage of 'all up-to-date repositories like GNOME:Apps clearly contradicts the usage. A user that wants all up-to-date does not really have the largest need for Evergreen; he will more likely end up on Tumbleweed. There is a difference between providing updates and keeping packages that were provided during the normal life of the distribution. I'm not asking for new versions, just do not delete them, so that people that installed those packages during the life of 11.4 are not left stranded. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. People that have it installed can keep it.. it's about freeing up resources by obsoleting out-dated versions... We will of course not uninstall packages from existing systems.
