Okay, I succeeded in upgrading to gconf2-3.1.5-82.1.i586 by telling it to ignore the dependency (my mistake about x86_64 on this machine). It looks like I upgraded from 2.32, so 3.1.6 didn't actually install?
I'm getting confused... Is your machine running Factory? Coz if so, there has been gnome 3.1.4 in for a long time. If you're not on Factory (which GNOME:Factory targets), then we probably ran in a bunch of incompatibilities, which are not really surprising. Can you paste your list of repositories (zypper lr -u -p) This should give an insight on how the setup might look like. Also, "zypper verify" should not give any errors.
