Hey, Thanks to Magnus, and after some quick coding, we have back some page that we lost a few months ago (when we completely moved to the build service): http://tmp.vuntz.net/opensuse-packages/rpmlint.py This gives an overview of all the rpmlint warnings in G:F. [opensuse-gnome] GNOME:UNSTABLE

Hello people, I'd like to delete all package from GNOME:UNSTABLE to avoid people using old, stale, broken stuff. G:U, as explained [1] is only going to be used once Factory is frozen prior to the next openSUSE release. If you have any packages in there that you need, can you please copy them somewhere else. I plan on removing all packages in a weeks time. Also, as a side note, GNOME:Factory:Next have now been removed and people should be using GNOME:Factory instead. The openSUSE-GNOME Team is proud to announce its Hack Day Series for the next two months. These events are designed to get the community involved in the various processes that make everything hum so wonderfully. These events will be held bi-weekly on Thursdays, coinciding with our regular weekly team meetings. They are all day events with a scheduled coordinator monitoring the channel throughout the day. All hack days will occur in the #opensuse-gnome channel on the Freenode Network. We welcome everyone to join us. And don't be intimidated if you don't think you know how to do certain tasks. There will be experts around to guide you. Below is our schedule: (Please note that topics of each hack day may change as we get closer. For updated information, subscribe to news.opensuse.org's calendar.) 26-February-2009 Wiki Hack Day Cleaning up all -GNOME related pages on the openSUSE Wiki site. Good afternoon, I was just busy updating comix to the latest version in G:C and ran into an issue (works up to openSUSE 11.1, so I submitted the package, even though it does not work on Factory for the moment). the problem in short: comix BuildRequires: python-gtk and python-gtk apparently Requires python < 2.6, which is not available. Is this a known problem? In a regular factory build we have python-gtk and apparently it does not require python < 2.6.. Hi, i was wondering where i could find specificly the icon theme used for the latest openSUSE GNOME release?! Is it Gilouche icon theme or Industrial, its called, im not sure?!. is it part of the gnome-icon-theme or does the opensuse have a separate icon package for that? Hello, I just had a look at our wiki page [1] and lots of stuff was really outdated. We had "Report a bug" pointing to 10.3 etc. I think we really need to have virtual teams that take responsible for the different parts, such as wiki, packaging, testing, bug reporting etc. We currently do have a page for Team [2] and Directory [3] On the Directory [3] page, we list the following topics; * Accessibility * Bug Tracking * Packaging * Meetings * Helping Hands * GNOME Repositories I think we need a wiki specific topic as well, and would like each and everyone of you to add yourself to the topics of interest and where you can help. We should then try to go through these topics once a month (either during the normal meeting or as a separate meeting) to make sure that we keep this up to date. As I see it, people adding themselfs to the wiki topic would have a huge task on their hand, checking pages to make sure they are current. It's also a great way to contribute if you don't have coding skills etc. Opinions? [opensuse-gnome] GNOME 2.26 on openSUSE 11.1

Hello folks! As you might, or might not know, we are packaging GNOME 2.26 for both Factory and openSUSE 11.1. I'm running this myself on all my machines and I don't have any noticeable bugs, which means that you all can install and use it :-) For 11.1, you will need to add the following repos; http://widehat.opensuse.org/pub/repositories/GNOME:/Factory/openSUSE_11.1/ http://widehat.opensuse.org/pub/repositories/GNOME:/Backports/openSUSE_11.1/ Which actually brings me to the reason for this email... We will package DeviceKit-power in GNOME so that we can update to the latest gnome-power-manager. DK-power requires DeviceKit, which is already in Factory. DK requires a newer version of udev compared to the one we have in openSUSE 11.1. Having the above requirements in mind, I'd say that we would like to keep gnome-power-manager at v2.24.x (ie, not update it for 11.1, but only Factory). Does anyone feel that this is not an OK solution? Cheers! Please link package GNOME:GNOME1 to GNOME:Community... It is needed as a build dependency for package purple-plugin_pack (for plugin xmms-remote). Or i can disable the plugin for all repositories (it is enabled only for 10.3 and 11.0 because it has been dropped) I have made a submitreq nr. 6598 for that Regards Gryffus

Now, let's try to not update things in G:F for now, until those packages gets in oS:F -- I know, it's hard ;-) But until https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472628 is fixed, it's probably better to do this. To submit a fix for 11.1, you need to go through the patchinfo process. However, if you do osc branch openSUSE:11.1 some-gnome-package then osc will tell you that the package is linked from GNOME:Factory, and it will give you a version that you don't want. Okay, no problem. You specify the --nodevelproject option: osc branch --nodevelproject openSUSE:11.1 some-gnome-package Note that this doesn't work in the osc that is available right now for 11.1 Fortunately, Darix just fixed this. His recipe to get a fixed osc worked perfectly for me: (02:27:16 PM) darix: svn co https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/opensuse/trunk/buildservice/src/clientlib/… ~/workspace/osccheckout ; ln -s ~/workspace/osccheckout/osc-wrapper.py ~/bin/osc ; rehash That makes the --nodevelproject option work correctly. Hello, Currently, when doing package updates, we have some (strange) policy that we have to put in what changes upstream made (ie, bugfixes, new features etc). All this information is already available in the NEWS/ChangeLog file for most packages. Since this doesn't seem to be an openSUSE policy [1] I wonder why we enforce this for GNOME components? Enforcing updates of the changelog makes it possible to check details of upstream changes with; # rpm -q --changelog nautilus By not enforcing these changes, one can do; # cat /usr/share/doc/packages/nautilus/NEWS I see little (if any) value in doing this, but it adds a lot of time when doing a package update, so I would like to change the policy to simple contain specific updates that the packager made (add/remove patch etc) Opinions? I posted a comment on the bug. Here's a gist anyway ;-) It was not a problem with the evo package. It is a problem the way linkpac works. I made the submission to G:F so I know for sure that all was well in my repo before the submission ;-) All patches were clean. Since both projects (i.e. evo in G:F and evo in my repo) had "project.diff", something broke when I submitted and you accepted. [opensuse-gnome] Splashscreen won't show.

The splashscreen wont show, i have tried all the options in vga=ask mode at bootmenu. It just changes the resolution for the text at startup. I have graphics in the bootmenu, so wouldn't my computer be able to show the splashy? also "splashy test" fails. Hi, Just wanted to send a quick status update about G:F after the packaging day. A few comments: + g-wrap: blocking on bug 472713 (we need a pkg-config file for libffi): https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472713 Else, it's pretty much ready in my branch, iirc. + gnome-power-manager: no devicekit-power, no 2.25.x + gnome-user-share: building in my branch. To have the file sharing over webdav be announced over dns-sd, we need to package: http://0pointer.de/lennart/projects/mod_dnssd/ (there's a FIXME in gnome-user-share.spec about this) + gobby: being worked on by FunkyM. It's a complete rewrite, and needs new packages. + gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad: still need some legal love. Stanislav might look at this. + libgda: I have an update ready in my branch, but it fails to build: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=569238 + libmcs: hrm, no idea :-) But I found out that nothing depends on it, so a good candidate to kill or move to Contrib if someone wants to maintain it. Hi I just branched the hamster-applet package from G:C to my home and properly modified so it could be on G:F. This package was initial packaged by maw and has been updated on G:C. [opensuse-gnome] Pushing G:F to oS:F

Hey all, Just wanted to let you know that I'm pushing G:F to oS:F right now. That's 201 source packages, my friends. There are 3657 source packages in openSUSE:Factory (actually, a bit less since some in the 3657 are links to others). Yep. That's more than 5% of the packages at once. FWIW, nearly everything builds except: + anjuta: needs to be updated, should fix the issue. Hubert is doing it while I'm writing the mail. + epiphany-extensions: it checks for epiphany 2.24 instead of 2.25. I'm working on it, but blocked right now because it fails to find xulrunner. + mergeant, planner: need libgda3 Woo, it just finished. [opensuse-gnome] Having both libgda3 and libgda4

Hi, Looking at the current build failures in G:F... A few packages here are failing because they need libgda3 and are not ported to libgda4. And, eg, planner has not been ported in svn yet. So, maybe we should keep the libgda3 packages for some time. There should be no problem. See http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/Shared_Library_Packaging_Policy for the details. What do you think? [opensuse-gnome] Status of G:F:N merge

Hi all, Over the past few days, I took some time to start merging G:F:N updates in G:F. Thanks a lot to the people who worked on G:F:N, it was a good way to stay updated with the latest versions. The merge went fine overall. I took the opportunity to look at the packages closely, and fixed various other things (wrong BuildRequires, eg), sent various patches upstream (I was bad enough to not tag them in the spec files, though :/), dropped various old unneeded patches, etc. There are only a few packages left. Here's a summary of why I left those packages: =============== avahi: it's probably okay, but I'd love to have Stanislav double-check devhelp: depends on webkit. I'm not sure the webkit we have right now is of good quality (it's quite old). So do we want this? empathy: was looking at the updated empathy-lockdown.patch patch, and wondering if it had been sent upstream... Not really a blocker ;-) evolution evolution-data-server evolution-exchange: too big for "osc rdiff", so I got lazy and ignored them for now gdm: I think it needs a manual merge (broken patch) Didn't look closer. gnome-power-manager: requires devicekit-power gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad: legal status of the new plugins unclear libgda libgnomedb: I think it needs a manual merge (broken patch).
