Feature added by: Stanley Miller (stan_qaz) Feature #314868, revision 1 Title: Add Smart GUI Monitor Application Package Wishlist: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Stanley Miller (stan_qaz) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: This GUI version has been around for a long time but only exists as an unstable version: gsmartcontrol - Hard disk drive health inspection tool GSmartControl is a graphical user interface for smartctl (from smartmontools pac kage), which is a tool for querying and controlling SMART (Self-Monitoring, Anal ysis, and Reporting Technology) data on modern hard disk drives. It allows you t o inspect the drive's SMART data to determine its health, as well as run various tests on it. http://software.opensuse.org/package/gsmartcontrol ------ It would be nice if this could be reviewed and possibly promoted to a stable status and included in the stable repository and possibly even installed by default and an entry added to the System - Monitor menu. Use Case: SMART is very useful in checking your disk health and current status but openSUSE only offers a command line version that isn't simple to use. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: The GUI version is much easier for a novice to find and use. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/314868
