Title: Make PXE-bootable openSUSE live system available
openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed
Requested by: Joschi Brauchle (endzone)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org
Many people seem to have tried to make an PXE-bootable openSUSE Live
CD/System (not PXE installation), but there seem to be no *easy, step-
by-step* instructions on how to get this working. There seems to be a
way to get this done via a) KiWi oder b) SUSE Studio, but a) seems
pretty complicated and b) is not free.
See the following links: 1)
Business case (Partner benefit):
: In our corporate environment, all machines are currently
running openSUSE 11.4 or 12.2. Thus, it would be great to have an
openSUSE-based PXE-bootable live-system, in case there are problems
with a machine. Currently, we have to use other distributions, which
provide PXE-bootable images, to do rescue operations.

+ You can now PXE boot OpenSUSE live distros with Serva
+ openSUSE-13.1-GNOME-Live-x86_64.iso openSUSE-13.1-KDE-Live-x86_64.iso
+ openSUSE-13.1-Rescue-CD-x86_64.iso This method uses a combination of
+ TFTP/HTTP; no NFS required.
