openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Juergen Weigert (jnweiger)
reject date: 2009-10-12 18:13:25
reject reason: too late for 11.2

Make PDFs available from within the help centers. For yelp something
along these lines works:
Name=PDF of the openSUSE Startup Guide (en)
Name[en]=PDF of the openSUSE Startup Guide (en)
Business case (Partner benefit):
: User will find documentation...

Karl, could you please explain what the benefit would be and for whom?

openSUSE: ATM, If the user installs the PDF, he must check the file
list using YaST or "rpm -ql", if he wants to open the PDF with a PDF
viewer. With .document files, the user will see the PDF in the help
center (yelp); clicking on the title of a PDF file automatically starts
the default PDF viewer.
SLED: ATM, the SLED admin who installs the PDFs, must tell the desktop
user where he can find the PDFs.
SLES: It probably does not matter that much.
Todo. Find out how all this works with khelpcenter.

for khelpcenter it should be sufficient to have a .desktop with
Help=file:/..*pdf, but it's been a while since I looked :)

+ No, I think we'd better reject this feature now. I think yelp (no
+ longer) is able to handle PDFs.
+ ATM, I don't have time for researching.

Thanks for the reminder.
We now have .page files for yelp to make the HTML output accessible;
ATM, there is a small bug, though: bnc#866668 (nice number!). PDFs will
not be accessible from yelp/
