Feature changed by: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) Feature #306588, revision 7 Title: Improve on software search - Hackweek IV: Unconfirmed + Hackweek IV: Rejected by Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) + reject date: 2013-08-13 15:00:55 + reject reason: not done Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Juergen Weigert (jnweiger) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: software.o.o/search is always a case insensitive substring search. I'd like to hack into the system and add * optional case sensitivity, * exact package name search * regexp search This is an opportunity to learn ruby on rails for me. Any takers, who want to coach me, especially with Rails welcome. Discussion: #1: M. S. (funkym) (2009-08-25 09:54:49) I think it would even be feasable to sort the search results by: 1) Repository type (Official, official sub repos like GNOME:Factory, then down to user ones) 2) Highest package version Thus one would find the latest packages from the highest priority repositories first. #2: Todd R (theblackcat) (2010-08-13 16:57:14) Being able to search for an exact match is really important for me. Try finding the version os python available. Do you have any idea how many packages have the word "python" in their name? There are about 50 just in the repositories I have enabled. Finding the just plain "python" package is essentially impossible. #3: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) (2010-08-19 20:30:39) What is important for me is to search based on filename. Webpin allows (albeit with an ugly "/filename" syntax, that is, with a leading slash) it, and so should s.o.o. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306588
