Feature changed by: Jan Weber (japa83) Feature #306322, revision 8 Title: Accessing PDFs from within the help centers - openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by (jnweiger) + openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Juergen Weigert (jnweiger) reject date: 2009-10-12 18:13:25 reject reason: too late for 11.2 Priority Requester: Mandatory Projectmanager: Desirable Requested by: Karl Eichwalder (keichwa) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Make PDFs available from within the help centers. For yelp something along these lines works: /usr/share/help/opensuse-startup-pdf_en.document : [Document] DocPath=file:///usr/share/doc/manual/opensuse-startup_en-pdf/opensuse- startup_en.pdf DocType=text/pdf DocLang=en Icon=document2 Categories=System;Core;Translation;Documentation Name=PDF of the openSUSE Startup Guide (en) Name[en]=PDF of the openSUSE Startup Guide (en) DocIdentifier=com.novell.opensuse-startupen DocWeight=0 Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: User will find documentation... Discussion: #1: Michael Löffler (michl19) (2009-04-16 10:56:44) Karl, could you please explain what the benefit would be and for whom? #2: Karl Eichwalder (keichwa) (2009-04-20 12:45:59) (reply to #1) openSUSE: ATM, If the user installs the PDF, he must check the file list using YaST or "rpm -ql", if he wants to open the PDF with a PDF viewer. With .document files, the user will see the PDF in the help center (yelp); clicking on the title of a PDF file automatically starts the default PDF viewer. SLED: ATM, the SLED admin who installs the PDFs, must tell the desktop user where he can find the PDFs. SLES: It probably does not matter that much. Todo. Find out how all this works with khelpcenter. #3: Stephan Kulow (coolo) (2009-06-24 12:16:28) (reply to #2) for khelpcenter it should be sufficient to have a .desktop with Help=file:/..*pdf, but it's been a while since I looked :) -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306322
