Hi, I was looking for recode for 15.0. Since official repo does not have it, I was looking in software.o.o
https://software.opensuse.org/package/recode
No Official package for 15.0, but it says there is a official package for TW: The link to OBS goes to Factory, where is no package recode (any longer). The download link has a 32bit drop-down only (!), but this ends in a 404 Error.
So 4 questions arise: Was recode dropped deliberately? If yes, { What is the recommended replacement - iconv? Whom do I have to contact about the stale package? } else { How should I proceed to get it back in TW and 15.0? }

Feels like an outdated database.

Exactly, iconv.

I used recode to convert umlauts and the like from iso to html. It seems to me iconv does not offer this?

OBS for some reason thinks that there is still an i586 package of recode in Factory:
osc se --binary recode
cu Ludwig

It was dropped for SLES because it's a dead project and is not deemed supportable.
I'm not sure why it had to be dropped for openSUSE as well. I guess you could step in as maintainer and have it re-added. On github, someone new took over the project from the original author, so perhaps it is _not_ dead after all.

For the time being, you could get recode from Base:System.
