[opensuse-factory] Deprecated projects
Greetings list, Why do we allocate high priority builders to deprecated projects such as KDE3? It's frustrating for me to have my builds be scheduled behind this deprecated project. Please remove KDE3 from factory and let it live in it's own namespace. KDE3 in factory is a taint on our openSUSE project. Cheers the noo, Graham

Some of my users really push the envelope and it might make sense for me to downgrade them for their own good if they're missing something important. For my own usage, KDE4 works well. KDE3 inside Factory consumes much less resources than KDE:KDE3 project because all building power is shared between all projects. And KDE:KDE3 is indeed rated rather high in priority by an automatic script because it is very popular.

May I please ask what is meant by "the plasma panel" in that bug report? especially when there is mention of "it" being on the left side of the screen (and whatever else)? The Taskbar can certainly be made to auto-hide (and this is a very simple thing to do). Any changes you make to get it working on factory will trigger rebuilds for every other release as well. For instance kdelibs3 was rebuilt for openSUSE 11.4 two days ago. It has been broken for a day or two, now it works. In the "games" repository, for example, there are 215 broken packages, some of them for years. Any changes you make to get it working on factory will trigger rebuilds for every other release as well. For instance kdelibs3 was rebuilt for openSUSE 11.4 two days ago. There is no reason to do that, once it is working on a given release it can be disabled for that release.

The software usually does not rebuild if it does not change.
Any changes you make to get it working on factory will trigger rebuilds for every other release as well. For instance kdelibs3 was rebuilt for openSUSE 11.4 two days ago. There is no reason to do that, once it is working on a given release it can be disabled for that release.
If all the changes were to fix build for Factory, you would be right.
Please stop that thread, keep KDE3 as long as it is maintained and used by a reasonable number of people and don't waste resources in trench wars. Please remove KDE3 from factory and let it live in it's own namespace. KDE3 in factory is a taint on our openSUSE project.
-1 As KDE3 is well maintained and of use to openSUSE users. See also the replies on how the build priority gets calulated. As many as possbile superfluous builds must be disabled. Please use this service as you would have to pay for the electricity of the systems and air condition yourself. ;) And now back to the real, non meta work. Knowing this would be most helpful because Claudio seems to be talking about the Taskbar - which contains the Kickoff and the clock and the volume control and the Desktop/Workplace icons and........ The Taskbar can certainly be made to auto-hide (and this is a very simple thing to do).
Yes, I was talking about the taskbar. I found it odd that they mentioned it being on the side, but since it can be moved, I thought they simply moved it and hence that was why it was on the side for them. So, the bug is talking about something else? Shouldn't it be simple to port taskbar code to that panel's code? Can't you do it and provide the patch?
