I found the very promising project qtcurve (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=5065) which provides a unified widget theme engine for QT, GTK2 and GTK1. There are binary packages for Suse at Guru's RPM page (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=/Themes/qtcurve). After some testing I think this is a very good replacement for gtk_qt_engine and I would like to vote for inclusion of this package into one of the next Suse/openSUSE releases.

Ah, ok... From my point of view the do the same (provide a consitent look and feel for GTK and QT apps when working with KDE) but in a different way. My point was that the gtk-qt-engine package is unmaintained for over a year now (http://cvs.freedesktop.org/gtk-qt/gtk-qt-engine/) and that it doesn't work quite right for some GTK apps. So why not think about an alternative which might work better?

Why not creating a fork of the project and do further development? Maybe the guy from the QT Curve theme wants to do it. -- andreas
