Run an update yesterday, restarted akonadi after I saw your mail, but can not confirm this behaviour. Google credentials have been asked only once after the upgrade. Something similar is described in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397882, following a crash of akonadi itself. Is akonadi crashing in your case? A fix for that crash has been submitted yesterday and is on the way to Tumbleweed: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/631927 No idea if that will help you though. Another bug report I found that somewhat sounds similar to your description: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396890 I.e. apparently you currently need to use the full email address (something like xxx@gmail.com) as username, or the authentication dialog will pop up again and again. I now have 9 unread emails sitting in my Google account that kmail won't retrieve - I can send ok and my google account settings says Akonadi has access to Gmail - i can receive the emails on my phone okay. Your last suggestion will not work. I've seen that since now weeks and I access my gmail from my phone ... oh great.. thanks, that'll save me some hair pulling. Just submitted: Bug 398011 against akonadi - hopefully the correct place.

I confirm that changing the username to username@gmail.com stops akonadi asking over and over again. But ...... I have notes from the settings as I entered them when setting up this laptop, which include username@gmail.com . Also, the password, opposite to other accounts cannot be changed. Sent a test mail to the account 15 minutes ago, still hasn't come in..... Akonadi / Google

I bypassed the auto configuration, which selected Gmail as an auth, where it should be PLAIN. Most likely Google changed the API again. Running fine now. If you need more details, send me an email and I'll return some screenshots of my settings.

Actually, as it turned out we have a packaging error/regression in our 18.08 packages. (the SASL plugin for Google authorization was moved from kdepim- runtime to libkgapi upstream which required packaging changes) See https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1108577 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375410 . A fix is on the way... As a workaround for now, you can install libkgapi-devel (which contains the "missing" libkdexoauth2.so), or create the symlink (in /usr/lib64/sasl2/) manually. Then "GMail" authorization should work again like before.
