pitty, as my other installs lost network connection, caused by some instable grub issues, and my lack of finding the right kernel and belonging modules... (there are many now in my /boot partition), i now do not have any working browser, not to speak of the bookmarks and saved sessions, i am not able to use.... At such times, you notice how dependent one can be on a browser.. ;) (windows 7 beta has been expired, so i am thrown back at the stone age... :)) (Today i saw on another machine that the swimmingpool-bottom-cleaner i had a bid on, was gone to sombody else...) -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (M9.) Milestone 3 should be fixed but I haven't tried it myself yet. It's only available as ISOs it seems though. The issue is that Factory wasn't updated to Milestone 3 AFAIK (probably will get updated in the next days to some thing newer than Milestone3 though). OK. I downloaded the Milestone3 DVD iso but it turned out to be not mountable as an iso. Or burnable with k3d as an iso image. So I downloaded the Milestone3 net iso and installed with that. My installation is apparently "factory" between Milestones 2 and 3? And my findings being from "factory" GRUB selection says it's Milestone2. I'd venture that the way we build Factory may be less than ideal for situations like this. In fact, if it takes (nearly or is it more than?) a week to get a key package like Firefox out after a fix has been made, that is a sure sign that our build/update strategy needs to change. </rant> </soapbox> Gerald -- Dr. Gerald Pfeifer E gp@novell.com SUSE Linux Products GmbH Director Product Management F +49(911)74053-483 HRB 16746 (AG Nuremberg) SUSE Linux Enterprise, openSUSE, Appliances GF Markus Rex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Maybe the instability is the cause it has not been ported yet? -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (M9.) (Now or never...) No, it's not. It's just a sign that coolo can't make vacation and we can't send people to LinuxTag _and_ keep short turn around times. And firefox wasn't the problem, but the Mesa package we had to check in a the same time and Mesa links against quite some packages. It occurs to me that you just confirmed what I said. :-) Many needed the Firefox fix, not a new Mesa package, and fixing a bug in Mesa does not require (in principle, not necessarily in the current implementation) all those rebuilds. in Mesa does not require (in principle, not necessarily in the current implementation) all those rebuilds. The rebuilds don't take a week if that's what you think. I disabled factory to finish M3 and headed into vacation. M3 has a working firefox and a working mesa and _that_ was my primary goal.

It is actually not slow (build finished quite a while ago), but the ftp tree generation got disabled. Since coolo is on vacation, I felt so free to enable it again. So there should appear a new factory update today (in 2-4 hours). bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Quite a while? I was checking Factory before I wrote that mail and OpenOffice was still building ;-) But agreed that it also didn't go out because of the ftp tree generation.

Might be that it got triggered again, but it was in finished state several times since friday. However, you can also always check the state of the ftp tree generation, if you are interessted. It is this "package": https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=_product:openSUSE-ftp-ftp- i586_x86_64&project=openSUSE:Factory You could even watch it building, but it is boring ;) bye adrian

Nice to hear indeed. What is strange however is the fact that the menus from the menubar in FF only work 'after' switching from one desktop to another... Even the alt+underlined letter do not work until switched... (but if it works, and i know how, i can live with it...: nothing is perfect afterall... ;) -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (M9.)
