[opensuse-factory] status distribution
Hi, We have quite some build failures at the moment, but the factory tree was pushed out with only one small problem: firefox not installable, but Wolfang already fixed that. Beside that I'm glad live cds built for the first time in about a month, you can find them at http://download.opensuse.org/factory/iso/ as build143. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

metalink, openSUSE-KDE4-LiveCD-i586-i686-Build0143-Media.iso.metalink appears broken. aria2c actually *only* downloads the metalink, not the iso. the x86_64 version works fine. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Works fine here. Both with and without appended ".metalink" suffix. No idea why it should fail for you. Which aria2c version do you use? I tested 1.4.1. aria2-1.4.1-1.1 (x86_64) Just tried it again and now it works.... Go figure! Yesterday it dl'ed the metalink, even when the url specified *only* the iso file... I used: aria2c http://download.opensuse.org/factory/iso/openSUSE-KDE4-LiveCD-i586-i686-Buil... and aria2c http://download.opensuse.org/factory/iso/openSUSE-KDE4-LiveCD-i586-i686-Buil... Both with the same result. I don't know :^) tks, -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Booted and played for a while, x86_64. Had to run sax2 to set up video for nVidia 7300 card. Surprised that requirement for this *generic* card. Other functions worked quite well, wired net access immediately available. Browser and filemanager, immediate samba access w/o configuration. Have seen some negative comment on the file browser, but smb:/192.168.1.3 worked. Didn't do much else. Tried wife's toshiba satellite x205 video (ati) did not work. Didn't try too hard. Not much experience with ati cards. Wondering... Is this distro solid enough to install and use daily for browsing, email and serving mysql based photo album? And will a reinstall be required when it goes gold? My SLED 10 is having problems. tks for providing the *live* cds -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Why not go with 11.1, it is pretty solid and still contains KDE3.5 which you are using according to your opensuse-kde mail, 11.2 will have no KDE3 anymore. A reinstall shouldn't be needed when 11.2 goes gold, but there might be some orphaned files or settings left then, so it might still be a good idea.
My SLED 10 is having problems.
SLED 11 was released a few months ago in case you want the enterprise product. Karsten -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

SLED 10 because openSUSE 10.1 is no longer supported and my system is a bear to upgrade due to web-server and many configurations. 11.2 would last longer and KDE4 is not a problem aisi and will get better. Plus the graphics editors are getting better and better. I guess if 11.2 is not that stable for my reqmt's, 11.1 would be the way to go w/KDE4. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
