[opensuse-factory] KOTD 2.6.21-rc6-git1-20070408211613-default x86_64 and parallel port

I tried KOTD 2.6.21-rc6-git1-20070408211613-default on a SUSE-10.2 system and noticed that the parallel port driver seems to be broken. It garbles the output. A cat some_asciifile > /dev/lp0 gives unreadable output on my Epson Stylus Color 880. And any other try to print something using cups doesn't work, too. Switching back to 2.6.18.8-0.1-default fixes the problem. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Please test our vanilla upstream kernel as well - and if it reproduces there report it to the Linux kernel mailing list. If it does not reproduce, file a bug in our bugzilla so that it gets fixed, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

There should be (at least in the build service) an vanilla kernel without any of our patches. Sorry, don't know the exact place right now;-( Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

It's called kernel-vanilla and is sitting right next to where you got the other KOTD :) thanks, greg k-h --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Well, I 'am using traditionally http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/ and there is no kernel-vanilla ;-) I've found it now at http://software.opensuse.org/download/Kernel:/ and the vanilla upstream kernel shows the same problem. Sending a bugreport to linux-kernel now. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I see it there, look at: http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/i386/HEAD/kernel-vanilla-2.6.21... and http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/i386/HEAD/kernel-vanilla.i586.r...
I've found it now at http://software.opensuse.org/download/Kernel:/ and the vanilla upstream kernel shows the same problem.
Well, those kernels are a bit different than the above mentioned link, as they are built from a different package and might be a bit different version too.
Sending a bugreport to linux-kernel now.
Great, thanks for doing that. greg k-h --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
