i did check there but SDDM doesn't appear in the list of options. It only shows kdm, kdm3, kdm4, xdm, gdm, wdm, entrance, console.

You can enter anything you like. Again, "sddm" will start SDDM. If you enter something that doesn't exist on your system, xdm will be used instead. ok, i just looked at the list in the drop box.

sddm is actually part of that list since quite some time (even on 13.2), have a look at /var/adm/fillup-templates/sysconfig.displaymanager. But /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager is probably not changed on updates/upgrades, as it is a config file.

What led me to the question was that i discovered if you use "kdm", you have to use "the KDE4 "Configure Desktop" to mess with the login dialog, i suddenly had all the system users in my login list and i couldn;t get them to go away without using "Configure Desktop".

Everyone had more or less said use "System Settings" instead of "Configure Desktop", looks like you have to use a mix of the two.

The former is for Plasma5, and the latter for KDE4. As KDM is part of KDE4, it's settings are located there. if you use kdm, you have to use "config desktop" to deal with the login dialog as systemsettings5 won't do anything with the login dialog

You can also run the configuration module with "kcmshell4 kdm" btw. that looks better than "config desktop".
