Hello Mates,
Does anyone think the login manager provided with 4.8 is as good as openSUSE's manager in 4.7?
Not as slick. What can be done to improve the look?
Cheers!

When you installed 4.8, did you have to remove the openSUSE KDM branding? I had to.. and then you fall back to the default KDE4 branding.

Yes. The update mandated it's removal and switched to kdm-branding-upstream. Ugh!

How did you fall back to default KDE4 branding?

It's installed when the openSUSE branding is removed.

I keep getting upstream installed. The ugly grey background with the clock? I think I may fall back and try the update again.

If you're installing from the KDE4.8 Upstream repo, you're going to get the default KDM... at least that's how it is for now. I don't know if it'll change - unlikely is my guess since it's the upstream KDE.

I'll see what Will S. thinks about this. Most likely it will be changed again.

It's a missing 4.8 version of the openSUSE branding, that's all. On my todo list to fix.

AFAIK you fixed this a few days ago already. On 12.1 I can install the openSUSE kdm and workspace branding.
It might have taken some time for the fix to appear in the repos because KDE repos hardly finish building before some change restarts the process.

Thanks Will.
I can now install the login manager with the new openSUSE branding.
