[opensuse-factory] Libtdb, wich one is the good one?
Hi guys, i was searching for some informations. Actually DEFAULT libtdb is provided by samba package, but this only provide the library and a development file, no binaries or python bindings as i usually found on debian (for example). I then searched by myself the tdb source code and i found it here: ftp://ftp.samba.org/pub/tdb/ latest release looks to be 17/06/2009 just for test i then packages it, and the "USUAL" tdb package appears infact using that source i get: tdb-tools (that are:) %_bindir/tdbbackup %_bindir/tdbdump %_bindir/tdbtool a libtdb python binding, and of course libtdb and his development files. my question then, (because i'm actually on a packager, not a developer) why all that differences? wich one is the best one? are they compatible or not? I saw that only GNOME:/Evolution:/mapi project looks to use the same library i found (even if an older version) actually because i need i working samba, i packaged without publish this "new" tdb package, if you want to take a look on it just checkout home:anubisg1/tdb package if i'm right we may want to use that libtdb and then provide lots more tools than default libtdb provided by samba.src.rpm Regards, Andrea -- ------------------------------------------ Andrea Florio QSI International School of Brindisi Sys Admin openSUSE-Education Administrator openSUSE Official Member (anubisg1) Email: andrea@opensuse.org Packman Packaging Team Email: andrea@links2linux.de Web: http://packman.links2linux.org/ Cell: +39-328-7365667 ------------------------------------------
