[opensuse-factory] net install with boot/i386/loader kernel fails to start up yast
I can boot the kernel+initrd and download the 6-part installation system, but a few seconds after it reports the terminal screen size, my monitor blanks and the system is hung. System is i386. Every other distro works fine on it. WinXP too. It's been like this for a week or so now. Will this be fixed for 11.3? Any ideas? -- Web mail, POP3, and SMTP http://www.beewyz.com/freeaccounts.php -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Some information about your system and any error messages would be helpful (my crystal ball is in the shop for repair). Was this a clean install, upgrade, or what? What hardware, especially what video card does it use? We'' try to help but we need your help to do that. How much RAM do you have in this computer ? Have you tried to install in text mode ? :-) -- Les objets quantiques sont complètement dingues, mais au moins ils le sont tous de la même façon. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Plenty of RAM, 1.2 gig. How do you force text mode install, is there a kernel command line parameter for that? It might work since the problem seems to be video related. The monitor goes into suspend and the installer is dead. -- Web mail, POP3, and SMTP http://www.beewyz.com/freeaccounts.php -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

S3 UniChrome integrated graphics There are no error messages, the monitor goes into suspend and the installer is dead in the water. This happens right after reporting the text terminal size. I guess its a problem with the video driver. 11.2 installs on this box. The devs broke something. -- Web mail, POP3, and SMTP http://www.beewyz.com/freeaccounts.php -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
