I have a 2.4.0 built in my repo... is against factory (just pretend to ignore the science bit).

I am still not conviced about the noupdate patch... and also not very sure the explicit requires are needed in the spec file... I worked on a calibre 1.x.y file.

You can just get the rpm and test it if nice I will sr it to factory.

If you have 2.4.0 running please tell me how. I need at least 2.1 because the latest Version in Documentation:/Tools/ does not support the latest Kobo Glo Firmware (3.8)

The error above can be ignored, it is about my cheap tablet not being fully supported.

Notice that calibre installs its own libraries to "/opt/calibre/lib/" (165MB of them), it does not use the system libraries. I see QT5 libraries in there. And libmtp.so.9, too.

That's why I make a point of making it install to /opt, not the default place where it might interfere with others.

Yes, I'm aware that the distribution says there are security issues with running calibre this way, and it may be true (it was when I looked time ago, related to how C. opens external devices). On the other hand, the calibre people say «Please do not use your distribution provided calibre package, as those are often buggy/outdated», and that is also true: openSUSE version is certainly outdated, an thus can not contain later bug corrections.

I need a recent enough version, so that is that...

Thanks for care about this, but even when i try it as root then with sudo, i get the same result.

If you don't mind, as we are both doing this in 13.1, not factory, to switch to the standard opensuse.org mail list.

Hm, it seems there is not much movement, although there is interest. As it is my itch I will step up and apply for maintainership (according to good open source tradition).
