[opensuse-factory] 11RC1 - no sound
Just installed RC1 and do not have sound. Audigy4 card which worked perfectly under Beta3 but now, suddenly, no sound even though the card is recognised. Am I the only one with this hassle, please? Sorry, should have added that the installation is 32-bit and with KDE4. Ciao.
I installed RC1 with KDE3 on a separate set of HDs and found that even here I had no sound - which didn't sound right (no pun intended). By looking into the configuration of Kmixer I discovered that one of the input settings was not set (even though it is set by default in openSUSE 10.3). Once this was activated, and some sliders were adjusted, I got sound for my Audigy card in KDE3. I then went looking for these settings in the KDE4 setup but here it took a bit longer to solve the problem because the look of Kmixer is different to that in KDE3. In KDE4 one has to first select from a 'menu' as to which sliders you want displayed in the Kmixer settings screen. There were 2 which needed attention: the External Amplifier was not selected, and the other which I also needed was not only not selected but it was also MUTEd by default. Once I un-muted this settings (Analog Output/Digital Output) and selected the External Amplifier I got sound.
