[opensuse-factory] What to do when additional packages are needed in the official distro...?
Hello, What is the process of getting new packages into the official distribution? I am asking because we are currently packaging the next development version of GNOME in GNOME:Factory:Next, and so far, 3 new packages are needed in the official distro. Thanks, Magnus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

as this is still a Novell internal process you might want to ask there ;-) (Given you have some relationship with them.) Non-educated guess: Create the packages in PDB and submit them to Factory explaining that they are needed to satisfy Gnome dependencies? Sure, but for this exercise, let's pretend I don't :-) We've open up the distribution for external contributors[1] and there ought to be a way for us to request a package inclusion due to new dependencies in existing packages. beside the need to edit pdb, I have been told that submitreq create work for new packages. So all you need is to submitreq it. And for those outside of SUSE/Novell, you need to ask somebody to create the pdb entry for you. Of course it is all subject to approval.
