Failed to open initctl fifo: No such device or address Failed to talk to init daemon. # Ctrl-Alt-Del watchdog: watchdog0: watchdog did not stop! systemd-shutdown[1]: Waiting for process: systemd After quite a wait, CAD had the desired effect. This has occurred on my first two 15.3 dup'd since the online repos started getting updated. Is everyone suffering this (aka known issue)? OT: on second instance, first boot to 5.3.18-45 vtty came in 1024x768 instead of display's native mode (new post coming). NIC came up, but as ewhatever instead of eth0.
