[opensuse-factory] Community Repositorys
Hello Mates, i've just noticed, that in YasT/Software Repositories/Community Repositories all Links going to download.o.o. Maybe it is better to Link to a Mirror (like gwdg). So i think we have more capacity in download.o.o. just my 2 cents ;-) -- Sincerely yours Sascha Manns open-slx GmbH openSUSE Community & Support Agent openSUSE Marketing Team Blog: http://saigkill.wordpress.com Web: http://www.open-slx.de (openSUSE Box Support German) Web: http://www.open-slx.com (openSUSE Box Support English)

You are aware that download.o.o basically just redirects requests to mirrors? Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

And the mirrorbrain.org approach is based on AS information. Therefore redirects should point to a server which offers the theoretical best service quality. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Sorry for the offtopic here (but it might be of interest for others). What does "AS" mean in this context? Thanks, seife -- Stefan Seyfried "Any ideas, John?" Yes, I guessed that too, but I'm not sure and I remembered mirrorbrain working differently from Peter's presentation on Fosdem 09 ;) -- Stefan Seyfried "Any ideas, John?" "Choosing a suitable mirror for a users request is the key, and MirrorBrain uses geolocation and global routing data to make a sensible choice, and achieve load-balancing for the mirrors at the same time." This quote is from the start page of http://mirrorbrain.org/ No, I've not checked the source code. But from the quoted sentence - in particular the "global routing data" part - and the discussions with Peter in the past - three years ago maybe (?) - I still believe parts of the brain power is driven with the help of the autonomous system (AS) routing infrastructure. But only the code and Peter will know for sure. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

But maybe gwdg.de should be used for packman instead of skynet.be. If Eberhard is ok with that. At least I switched away from the skynet.be mirror because it seemed to be slow rather often. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

skynet.be isn't the default mirror for packman, community repo should add packman.inode.at since 22. may. Detlef -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Might it make sense to packman to utilize mirrorbrain.org as well? Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
