RE: [opensuse-factory] Re: updated of packages with usermod / groupmod calls 'hang'
Hi, ----- Original Message -----
Anybody seen something similiar? Some bug already hinting at this problem? (I would file it against base system otherwise, as manually starting groupmod also does not work).
Same here. I updated from 11.1 to factory a few days ago and saw the same. I captured a "ps -axf" output during "zypper dup". The whole process hanged three times:
I was stracing it a little. The issue seems to come from nscd (name server caching daemon). Even on manual, when issuing useradd test this is going to hang. shutting down nscd (rcnscd stop) and then adding a user works fine. (note: the user actually IS added to /etc/passwd, even with nscd running). I'll check bugzilla for a similiar issue and if nothing found, I'll register one.
