[opensuse-factory] opensuse-contrib mailing list
Hi subscribers of factory, what about establishing a separate $subject? These discussions might be interesting for hackers/maintainers/testers of packages like banner or putty which are of course needed for people not satisfied with factory/release. But seeing that on factory? Just my thoughts. Yes, I also thought about that topic. But even Linux started on Minix mailing-list. I'm not sure if we have enough critical mass for creating a new mailing-list just yet. But this step will become essential once we start integrating contrib into Novell Bugzilla. Yes, I also thought about that topic. But even Linux started on Minix mailing-list. Do you really believe "Minix on the way to Linux" is comparable to this? I'm not sure if we have enough critical mass for creating a new mailing-list just yet. There is _no_ "critical mass" in kind you think. There is no need to discuss

see above. Do you really believe this contrib thing will take it into bugzilla?

It's easy enough to skim / ignore a thread that seems irrelevant - the only way I can handle mailing lists is to do that anyway. As long as it's on-topic for -factory I can't see any issue with it being here. My feeling is that there are too many lists under the openSuSE banner as it is... -- Cheers Richard (MQ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I addmit I like the idea of a opensuse-contrib email list. I think it would be best for such discussion on that list.

I agree. I think a sperate list would be best. -- Boyd Gerber <gerberb@zenez.com> ZENEZ 1042 East Fort Union #135, Midvale Utah 84047 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

+1 I'd suggest to send a regular update to -factory about changes done in Contrib, e.g. summary of added/rejected packages etc. Or put this into into Weekly News. And/or create a RSS feed about new and updated packages, like http://archlinux.org/feeds/packages/ in Arch Linux. "contrib"utors - should we have a separate mailing-list ? If yes, then whom to ask to provide us with a mailing-list ? If "factory" users see "contrib" topic as spam, then we will have to establish it. -- -Alexey Eromenko "Technologov" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Henne, our (al)mighty mail admin ;)
If "factory" users see "contrib" topic as spam, then we will have to establish it.
I'd also be in favour of yet another mailing-list. It makes it easier to categorize and avoids the spam for people who aren't interested. Actually factory != contrib in many regards. So yes for another list. There you go. opensuse-contrib is operational. Please, one of you, send a welcome message to it in the style of http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-artwork/2007-04/msg00000.html If you need anything let me know.
