[opensuse-factory] ./configure Permission Denied
Hey Group; Do I need to replace bash to solve the problem with every source not allowing ./configure to run. Try a source with a ./configure script and every one of them give a "Permission Denied". This is a RC2 problem never seen before from a SuSE version from way back 5 or 6. I must assume this is just any over site. Please fix it. Or is it necessary to look elsewhere for a Linux distribution lacking a defective bash, syslinux and/or fuse. bash version is "bash-4.0.19-5-i586", This is a very irritating problem. This complaint comes from "-bash:". as "-bash: ./configure Permission Denied" -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Well, is the configure script not marked executable? Or Is the filesystem perhaps marked as "noexec"? Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No Sir! I even as a test set all of the files to 777 and it fails. Also here is a strace conf.err output. It is short You may have found it!!!! /etc/fstab shows sdc1 as clear of noexec but /etc/mtab shows it. Where does mtab get its information? -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316

Did you mount the partition as unprivileged user (option "user" in fstab)? "user" implies "noxec".

Thanks for the suggestion folks - Marcus and Hubert Yes! I will take it out of fstab and reboot. I did it because I thought it would allow a user to mount the noauto drive.. It is a plug in USB and would cause a long boot up if removed. -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No need to drop the user option if it is useful for you. Just append the "exec" option, such as: user, exec. This will override the implicit noexec option, but it needs to come _after_ the user option.

Well Thanks for Guru knowledge - I live in the Arm Pit of the World known as Houston area and Linux is not even used here. Winblows is about all you will see. I guess people enjoy spending money and chasing virus software. It is working again -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
