Splendid. Fully detailed - thanks. But "The installation over SSH is only possible in text mode" is not true - the menue suggests it, but it works with X11 too if you do "ssh -X". I don't really understand the page. I have a remote server, located in a datacenter where I have no access. I *can* have the server loaded with recent openSUSE or any other Linux distribution, I also can reboot the server or even reboot a recovery console. I can, of course, change the grub boot menu before rebooting. I can certainly select what grub entry will be used for the next reboot (but I don't remember how right now). The Hard drive is large, so I can host cd/dvd image, but I don't think grub can boot from them. from this, I could do a zypper dup when I will be sure it work :-), but I would prefere to * boot recovery and partition the Hard drive. This may be simply done from the default install (I don't know right now the server default install setup). * copy the necessary files to a partition, but what files? * and then? how lauch YaST install and control it from my home? thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Please feel free to use/add anything from here: http://disruptive.org.uk/2006/01/28/suse_remote_install_howto.html If particular about how to get a system to boot the installer remotely without physical access. -- ======================== Roger Whittaker roger@disruptive.org.uk http://disruptive.org.uk ======================== -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
