Hello, I'm playing with Postfix/fetchmail in order to send/receive mailing-list messages. I'm not able to set fetchmailrc syntax in order to declare two folder from which get the new messages. I used this example: set no softbounce poll imap.gmail.com proto IMAP service 993 user "mememe@gmail.com" there with pass "xyxyxyxyxy" folders Folder1, Folder2 is marco here idle ssl; But it doesn't works. Hi Carlos, For me the syntax doesn't works, only the first folder of the list went fetched: I.E. Folder1, to fetch the messages contained in the other, I need to invert the order in fetchmailrc. I wont use fetchall, I want to fetch only the new not read messages. Another weird thing is the fact I don't see my original message of this request, I have just received your answer. you are using the "idle" option; according to fetchmail's manual page, "It also doesn't work with multiple folders; only the first folder will ever be polled." Cheers. l8er manfred

Thanks for your spot, I have not given too much attention to that parameter because I was configuring the folders to be retrieved one by one and also I was adjusting Postfix settings in the meanwhile. I've removed "idle" from fetchmailrc now, let's see if it works. Anyhow I still don't see my posts sent on the mailing list, I just see the answers and the messages sent by others...I don't understand why. Hold on! That last paragraph means you are using gmail - check the "From" field; indeed, it is so. (yes, known gmail /feature/) Ok, Gmail uses their own implementation of the protocols, so things get different, and results are different. Then, you do not see your original message because Gmail thinks it is a duplicate and intentionally deletes it. Gmail only keeps the first copy it gets with the same Message-id. The copy from the list arrives later, thus it is deleted. If I reply to your post using "reply to all" you will only get my direct post, not the copy sent by the list server. Etc. If you want to verify your email was posted, go to hhtp://lists.opensuse.org With gmail, I have not tried to retrieve other folders but Inbox (I move good mail out of the spam box to the inbox). You could try this concoction or similar:

Yes indeed, Carlos is quite skilled regarding this topics. I'm looking to see if exist some workaround to send a message-Id slighty different in order to avoid Gmail killing the duplicate Id message. Just experimenting... I doubt it. maybe postfix can alter it, but it is against the rules... :-? What you can do is send using another mail host or account. Possibly another gmail account.
