[opensuse-factory] zypper dup wants to install many pkgs w/wrong arch ??
zypper dup this morning is trying to upgrade 246 pkgs with 167 new of which approx one-third are 32-bit on my x86_64 system ??? this doesn't see quite kosher, ie: is something amiss? tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Did you have any problems lines like: Problem: nothing provides xf86-input-keyboard needed by xorg-x11-driver- input-7.6_1-1.1.noarch Problem: nothing provides libzypp.so.1105 needed by yast2-qt- pkg-2.21.22-1.3.i586 Problem: nothing provides kdebase4-runtime >= 4.8.3 needed by sweeper-4.8.3-1.1.x86_64 Depending how you resolve those might lead to architecture chagnes - or perhaps you did something wrong in the past... zypper shouldn't switch the architecture directly... yes, quite a few.
Depending how you resolve those might lead to architecture chagnes - or perhaps you did something wrong in the past...
If I did, this is the first time I was bitten on this factory machine...
zypper shouldn't switch the architecture directly...
I isn't wanting to change arch but to install additional arch (32-bit) which doesn't fit the machine... I did "zypper up" and no 32-bit pkgs were added. Will see if problem solves itself tomorrow. ... Today the problem has resolved itself. Must have been pkgs missing from the mirror(s) or not built yet. tks, sorry for noise. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

This is factory, so don't allow zypper something that looks fishy to you. Better use zypper up to update the mass and then do zypper dup to see the problematic ones. did "zypper up" and no problems there but subsequent "zypper dup" still thinks many 32-bit pkgs necessary which already have 64-bit installed. will try again tomorrow...... Problem has resolved itself.
