Yes, it shows recently used documents (including my home directory and remote:// which aren't documents btw) but no recently used apps.
Should I fill a bug report?

As far as I'm concerned: yes (ok, it doesn't show applications, but
rather actions. Web pages, documents and such I've opened with GUI
programs).
