Hm.. indeed, Kernel:stable builds against Tumbleweed, one kernel for all. It would probably be best if prjconfig of Kernel:stable would reset the compression format for the RPMs built in there; something along the lines of:
Macros: %_binary_payload w5.xzdio :Macros
This woule set the Kernel:stable project to keep on using xz payload (jslaby: is this something you could take care of?
