Ultimately, *software* is the limiting factor (presently). Because no matter how much hardware you throw at it, it takes that many seconds that it does to set up a build root and run gcc.
I disagree, I have current hardware here were it takes: - 15 Seconds until login prompt - 1.5 Minutes until login prompt So optimized hardware makes already a big difference. But of course, optimizing software additional always helps, we already managed to get a boot prompt in 1.5 seconds instead of 15 ;) But you will never manage that with the hardware which currently needs 1.5 minutes.
