I have been trying to get Tumbleweed under Oracle VirtualBox and I cant get it to work. It does not start KDE but ends un in the command prompt for user ID and password. I stick these in but still no KDE. I do a startx but it get a couple of pages of errors. Does anyone have this running successfully? My VirtualBox is at the latest level. The other possibilty is my system is running Windows 10 with the insider preview installed. Win 10 and the preview are also at the latest level. Until next week I will not have a system I can run Tumbleweed native as I am short of PC's at the moment.
Thanks Andy gm1mqe
Do you try startx as root or as user? For using startx as user, you should set set the suid bit on the X binary. You can use the command chmod 4755 /usr/bin/Xorg (run as root) or you can create a file containing the line /usr/bin/Xorg root:root 4755 inside the directory /etc/permissions.d/ and apply this by issuing chkstat --system (as root).
