I don't see promise in that.
What I foresee is an aversion of new users to "SUSE" like it suffered from the Novell/Microsoft era, and a necessary exodus of current users, absent the required extra doers and hardware, spreading available resources thin to the detriment of distro quality. I hope to be proven wrong.
