Did anyone successfully install the nVidia binary driver on RC2? I
downloaded it from
compiled, but the kernel module itself could not be loaded :-(
Is there / will be there an nVidia repo, like there was one for 11.1?
I just installed the 32bit version and its working just fine for me
I can't load it. I get in /var/log/nvidia-installer.log
-> Kernel module compilation complete.
ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvidia.ko'. This happens most
frequently when this kernel module was built against the wrong or
improperly configured kernel sources, with a version of gcc that
from the one used to build the target kernel, or if a driver such as
rivafb/nvidiafb is present and prevents the NVIDIA kernel module from
obtaining ownership of the NVIDIA graphics device(s), or NVIDIA GPU
installed in this system is not supported by this NVIDIA Linux
Please see the log entries 'Kernel module load error' and 'Kernel
messages' at the end of the file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log'
-> Kernel module load error: insmod: error inserting

I installed kernel-source, made oldconfig and modules_prepare before
running the installer.
