hi,
even udev is specified as subpackage of systemd it is not automatically selected when updating systemd.
as i know, that, when i update systemd, i also have to update udev, i always manually select also udev to be updated, but today i forgot this, and after reboot my system didn't work any more.
"didn't work" is not enough information to suggest the best way to fix this.
i didn't quote the error details, because i have anyhow solved it by installing the missing udev packages. in fact it was a symbol lookup error from one of the udev packages. it didn't find a method. so network was not able to start, X was not able to start, and so on. at the moment i saw the symbol lookup error, i knew that i have forgotten to also update the udev packages. there is no fix needed in the situation, where the udev packages are too old for systemd. the needed fix, in my eyes is, that when you select systemd for update in yast, the udev packages should be autoselected, as it is with many other packages. -- Best Regards | Freundliche Grüße | Cordialement | Cordiali Saluti | Atenciosamente | Saludos Cordiales *DI Rainer Klier* DevOps, Research & Development
