Your havin a giraffe mate
For the reasons already given by michl on behalf of the internal team, plus:
* The experienced users whining, will still be whining about different behaviour, missing pet fringe feature or the pain of reconfiguring certain things even when 4.2, 4.3 or 4.4 is out anyway. There'll be a painful migration sometime - better sooner than later.
WHEN AND ONLY WHEN IT IS A SUITABLE REPLACEMENT it certainly is NOT one right now
* If we get new users to use KDE3 on 11.1, they'll have the trouble of migrating from 3->4 on 11.2.
well the way it's going it'll not be ready till about 11.9
* KDE4 is the future - there's no way around it. We should put all our effort in making the future as bright as possible instead of clinging to the past, waiting hoping for someone else to do the work for us.
* Kubuntu, Mandriva and Fedora all do the same or similar. Errrrrrrrr in case you had not noticed thi is Opensuse
There are some cases where there's a valid _need_ (not just lazyness or conservatism) for KDE3 due to some of the missing functionality or the bugs - to them we'll have to say: "Stay on 11.0/3.5 for another release". But those cases are few, and getting fewer every day.
If you want people to adopt KDE4.X then the only way it is going to happen on masse is to ensure that ALL the missing functionality IS THERE AND WORKING FULLY nothing less is either workable or aceptable but a lot of you seem to have a problem with that idea the present KDE4.x is very poor to manage the control center SUCKS with too much hidden (this aint windbLoWs so stop trying to make it so) Enough for now Pete -- SuSE Linux 10.3.
