Since this sounds like this is a problem only with NIS: this is a
generic problem with nss_compat. So if you use LDAP or anything else
with nss_compat, you will face the exact same problems.
And don't forget, that with the above "workaround", the "+" and
"-"
directives in /etc/passwd and /etc/group don't work.
