I do quite a bit of testing of the nvidia drivers for vanilla kernels and warn them of changes to come when the kernel ABI changes and where I can I supply a patch. Other than hand patching as is simple in this instance, a more extensive patch can be generated and applied as shown. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=110088 Regards Sid.
Many thanks for your response, Sid. Yesterday I applied the patch until I was blue in the face - and the nVidia #295 driver still won't install. After many years with [open]Suse, 12.2 MS #2, the SOB, has finally beaten me and brought me to my knees :-( . After many hours I got lucky and was able to install MS #2 but then the nVidia driver thing pulled the carpet from under my feet. I even went to the extent of installing the kernel-source, as we used to have to do quite some time ago, but this didn't help -the driver will not compile. My only hope now lies in knowing if this patch (and see also my response to Larry re his patch in another thread in the ML) is only for the driver for the 64-bit driver because I am applying the patch to my 32-bit driver (for my 32-bit system). If it applies to either then there is something drastic wrong with the 32-bit KDE of 12.2 MS #2. BC -- Wife sent me to the doctor to get the pills for me to have an erection.
