What about containers without systemd? No CRON-like function therein?
Why do you want to run cron inside containers? If your container runs on a Kubernetes cluster, I would use the cron functionality from kubernetes for this. Somebody wrote already that there is also a solution for docker-compose, but I don't use that. Else I use systemd timers to run the container peridically, e.g. to update my "let's encrypt" certificates. All of this is much more robust than cron inside a container.
