Caps are a valid punctuation. If the entire post is all caps then that might be construed as shouting, but captilizing words or phrases should be construed as emphasis and should not subject the poster to ridicule. IMO
You may intend caps as punctuation, but the consensus is that capitalization in email means shouting, and will be interpreted as shouting even if you do not agree.
