I've had Dell and Lenovo laptops. I'll probably never buy anything but Lenovo again. They rock. Thinkpads especially. I never control the fan manually, the EC (embedded controller) takes care of that. Make sure you use the latest BIOS. My T520 with a mid/high-end i7 runs at 114F most of the time, nearly silently, with outstanding battery life. Outstanding, A+, would buy again. :-)
That is the model that I was just looking at recently. However, it would be nice to see them offer a screen resolution of at least "1680x1050" by default.
I'm at 1920x1080 right now. Absolutely lovely screen. The matte anti-glare one.
+1
Screen is wonderful. I can work outside finally.

I would like to put together a QA about setting up a ThinkPad. Think fan, media keys, Gobi etc.
This would be for the wiki.
You can email me directly on this one.
There're one or two places already to talk about Thinkpad and Linux like the thinkwiki. I suggest to link to those and only keep openSUSE specific stuff here, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger aj@{suse.com,opensuse.org} Twitter/Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn,Jennifer Guild,Felix Imendörffer,HRB16746 (AG Nürnberg) GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
