No, that is not what I am saying. Konsole itself is only available as KF5 based application.
Yes, and this is presumably what I have in /usr/bin/konsole: $ rpm -qf /usr/bin/konsole konsole-15.04.1-1.1.x86_64 Zypper later pulled in the konsole4-part package and that's when I got the KDE4 konsole back.
The KDE4 based konsole is no longer being provided, so I am not sure what you mean that the session manager decided to switch from KF5 to KDE4.
I mean that when I run the above executable I get a KDE4 konsole window (at first I thought session manager had switched back to the KDE4 konsole, but that doesn't seem the case).
The only thing that I indicated is that certain programs that are still KDE4 based are requiring certains "parts" from konsole. These specific "parts" are being provided by the new package konsole4-part which is build from the konsole 4.14.3 tarball). As you indicated we also have a konsole-part package that is covering those programs that are already Frameworks based.
Well then there's maybe something else going on, I don't know. I am still not running on Plasma 5.3, so maybe that fact makes it prefer (or preload?) the KDE4 konsole part.
