Hi there,
we like to introduce a new package "firefox-esr" to be added to openSUSE Factory/Tumbleweed. It is a regularly taken version of the normal MozillaFirefox web browser, but does not follow the monthly development process. It is maintained with mostly security fixes over a period of approximately 12 months, after which the next version will be taken.
Leap users already know this package since MozillaFirefox in Leap is the ESR version.
The package lives in Wolfgang Rosenauer's "mozilla" project in OBS and is developed at "mozilla:Factory". It is a combined team effort from Wolfgang Rosenauer, Martin Sirringhaus and myself.
The program itself is called "firefox-esr" which, when started for the first time, will create a new profile if you are a "firefox" user already. Settings and/or bookmarks will not be sync'ed between the two versions - users have to deal with this on their own.
We hope you'll appreciate the new package!
The new package has just been submitted to openSUSE:Factory: <https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/1230138> Cheers. l8er manfred
