I would argue that Gentoo and Debian have better support for old and exotic hardware. However, openSUSE has very good potential to achieve the same. Thus, I have long been trying to propose an unofficial openSUSE distribution for old and exotic architectures. In Debian, I'm a maintainer for something called Debian Ports which supports a lot of old and exotic targets. I would love to the same for openSUSE and I have already started documenting on how to bootstrap openSUSE from Debian for a new architecture [1] [2]. Adrian
