That's what I thought too until last month or so:
kde3 parts, yes, they are possible. Perhaps something from kde3 is installed and then a bunch of other packages get installed. But certainly kdm3 is not the default - I showed where that interpretation error comes from a minute ago in another post.
# zypper se -s kde | grep kdebase3
