In case you want to contribute on your own, the sources are located at https://github.com/openSUSE/dracut and is open for pull requests, preferably to upstream first. Why not _mandatory_ upstream first like it holds for the kernel? To avoid the hell next time?
Let me clarify: Die to upstream being to merge in the recent months, the compromise is to submit to both (upstream and maintenance branches, new releases will track upstream), and in urgent cases merge without awaiting a thumbs up from upstream. The good is that more people have review permissions now, so this will gradually become a more rigid upstream first policy if we are confident that this is a scaling process.
